Quilts a plenty

Had a lovely Saturday in Melbourne at Stitches and Craft and look at some of the lovely quilts I saw. These ones above looked like persian carpets and were AMAZING! I recognised this one and when I looked closely at the tag, sure enough it was our "Ballarat Emma" from our local Patchwork shop. Good stuff Emma!

I have just recently bought the Dear Jane book and was keen to look closely at these quilts. The task is quite daunting, but I think I'll be taking "little steps"
Couldn't resist putting in a morning garden shot . . .
. . . and this is one I am working on. I have used pillow slips and curtain remnants. Happy days~

Remember Sock Monkey??

A couple of quick pictures before school this week that I couldn't refuse in the early morning with the due hanging and the frost creeping into my boots between the stitching.
. . . and remember my sock monkey? Well, Nelly has found a new friend and had a great time playing with it the other night in my sewing room. As she rolled around on it, it's legs and arms kept moving around and I'm sure she thought it was alive.
Who knows what she does when we're all at school during the day . . .

The natives were calling me . . .

It's amazing how far away those holidays feel now I am back in the busy world of school.
The good thing about my job though, is that they will give me some more -
This place is Kennett River - a tiny little gathering of houses along the Great Ocean Road. I snuck a couple of days peace here with some friends, and mainly just enjoyed the views - it was very relaxing. I was struck by the beauty of the natives.

Sewing Sewing and more sewing . . .

I can never throw these little spools away - silly I know but I'm sure I will find a use for them one day. Until then, they are a good indication that I've been doing a lot of sewing.
Look what my lovely friend Ric Rac gave me for my birthday - yes a selvedge mini quilt. I was very excited to receive it - she is such a "clever clogs"
I've had a weekend with another dear friend and her daughter and have been making some Melly and Me kitty cats. Lots of fun.

Lots of fav "winter" flowers in the garden, which keeps me happy happy happy. oh, and I'm in the process of maing a new little sewing bag, but instructions are not my thing - so it's been a slow process. I will show you when it's done.

Who's hiding in there?

This is Nelly's new favourite sleeping spot by day. While I am beavering away in my sewing room, she has found a lovely cosy spot inside a cupboard on top of an old coat. I have found her there several afternoons in a row.
I have completed an order for a new school bag for one of the girls at school. Actually she has ordered 2 - one for shopping. As you can see, I am quite chuffed with the result. The yummy fabric from Pippijoe did help. Awaiting a parcel from Kristen Doran for the next one.

. . . and so Term 3 begins

Autumn Annie Leaf Thief Extrordinaire

Now just look what my georgous friend Kate gave me. A mini quilt of me raking the Autumn leaves. Now I will be able to start my own quilt wall like Miss Lockett. It is just me all over and I was thrilled. Thank you so much Katie.
Here I have some yummy Pippijoe fabric to make a bag, a little blue bird from Mrs Big Head ( oh I mean Ric Rac of course!!!) and below, I have . . . wait for it . . . old curtains and new curtains. I have really outdone myself here, as I've never attempted curtains alone. I took a big breath and I am very pleased with the results.
This is what I found in my winter garden on a VERY cold day . . .
. . . and I've finally made a sock monkey. (yes I will take the pins out of his nose soon I promise)

Much industry for the last couple of days of the holidays

p.s .drop in and say hello to new Ballarat blogger Janette
